Single Engine Plane Crash at Rock Springs Sweetwater County Airport

ROCK SPRINGS, WY ─ Operations are running normally after a small aircraft crashed on Runway 9/27 at Rock Springs Sweetwater County Airport (RKS) at approximately 12:00 PM on September 18, 2015. The single-engine Aviat Husky A1-B was resting on the runway when airport’s Aircraft Rescue Firefighters arrived on scene. There were no injuries to the sole occupant of the aircraft.

Runway 9/27 was closed immediately and re-opened shortly after 2:00 PM after the aircraft was removed. There were no flight cancellations or delays associated with this brief closure.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
